What Is Paint Correction?

Paint correction is a professional machine-polishing process that permanently removes or reduces imperfections within the upper layer of your vehicle’s clear coat.

Unlike products that temporarily fill or hide defects, paint correction carefully refines the surface to improve the clarity, colour and reflectivity of the paintwork.

Paint correction can improve:

  • Swirl marks caused by incorrect washing
  • Fine and moderate scratches
  • Automated car-wash damage
  • Holograms and previous machine-polishing marks
  • Oxidised or faded paintwork
  • Mineral deposits and water spots
  • Bird-dropping etching
  • Light sanding marks
  • Dull or cloudy paintwork
  • Poor dealership or previous detailing work

Deep scratches that have penetrated through the clear coat may require professional paint repair.

We will always assess the damage honestly before recommending any work.

Our Paint Correction Process

1. Vehicle Assessment

We inspect the paintwork under specialist lighting and discuss the results you want to achieve.

Paint-depth readings may be taken to help establish how much correction can be performed safely.

2. Safe Washing and Decontamination

The vehicle receives a detailed pre-wash and contact wash before tar, iron fallout and bonded contaminants are removed.

3. Paintwork Preparation

Sensitive trims and edges are protected before a test section is completed.

This helps us select the safest and most effective combination of polishing compound, pad and machine.

4. Machine Polishing

The paintwork is corrected using professional polishing equipment and products selected for the vehicle’s paint type and condition.

5. Refinement and Inspection

The paintwork is carefully inspected under specialist lighting.

Further refinement is carried out where necessary to improve clarity and gloss.

6. Labocosmetica Protection

Once polishing is complete, the surface is professionally prepared before the selected Labocosmetica ceramic coating is applied and allowed to cure.

FAQs

Can paint correction remove every scratch?
Paint correction can remove or significantly reduce many swirl marks, fine scratches and surface defects. Deep scratches that have penetrated through the clear coat cannot always be safely removed and may require paintwork.

Stage 1 uses a single machine-polishing stage to improve gloss and reduce lighter imperfections.

Stage 2 uses a stronger correction stage followed by a separate refinement polish, making it more suitable for heavily swirled or neglected paintwork.

A single-stage correction will usually require most of a working day. A multi-stage correction can take considerably longer depending on the vehicle’s size, paint hardness and condition.
Corrected swirl marks have been removed rather than temporarily hidden. However, new swirl marks can be created through incorrect washing. We provide maintenance advice and professional maintenance packages to help preserve the finish.
We use Labocosmetica because its professional coating systems provide excellent gloss, hydrophobic performance and durable surface protection when installed on correctly prepared paintwork.

No ceramic coating can make paintwork completely scratch-proof.

It provides a durable protective layer and helps resist environmental contamination, but the vehicle must still be washed using safe methods.

Yes. New vehicles can arrive with swirl marks, sanding marks, adhesive residue and poor dealership preparation. A new-car correction can refine these defects before a Labocosmetica ceramic coating is applied.
